Accessibility statement
Last updated: November 4, 2026
Altly exists to make the web more accessible, so the extension and this website must be accessible themselves. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Every feature works with a keyboard alone, and every control has a visible focus indicator.
- All controls use native HTML elements or correct ARIA roles, names, and states.
- Progress and results are announced through live regions, so you don’t need to hunt for them.
- Dialogs trap focus while open, close with Escape, and return focus to where you were.
- Click targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Text meets AA contrast requirements in light mode, dark mode, and Windows high contrast mode.
- Animations are turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.
Supported assistive technology
We design Altly to work with NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS, Narrator, ChromeVox on ChromeOS, and screen magnifiers, in current versions of Chrome and Edge.
Known limitations
- Browsers don’t allow extensions to run on some pages, such as the Chrome Web Store, browser settings, and the built-in PDF viewer.
- Images drawn with CSS backgrounds, canvas, or SVG are not described yet.
- Some websites rebuild their pages constantly and may briefly remove Altly’s descriptions until they’re added again.
Feedback
If anything in Altly or on this site is hard to use, we want to know. Email cyu9960@gmail.com and tell us what you were trying to do, which browser and assistive technology you use, and what happened. We aim to reply within 2 business days.
